When I read that the world prefers China to the US, I accepted the news without surprise. I mean, why wouldn't they? At least when the Chinese government takes your home they don't turn around and give the land to a condo developer. China meets criticism of their human rights record and oppressive political system with a kind of "fuck you, whitey" that only a 5,000 year old country can pull off. We meet the same criticism with a bunch of drawled bullshit that not even we believe.

Does anybody remember when being a Republican meant that you preferred small government, contained spending, and a belief in the rights of the individual?
